Time for Change Canada Advisory Group Member 

Committee Member

April - May 2024

An advisory group member that worked alongside Ashoka Canada and First Book Canada to support an exciting initiative called Time For Change. This program aims to put changemaking resources in the hands of K-12 teachers and students across Canada’s communities, with a priority of reaching Indigenous, Black and newcomer communities and families.

Provided suggestions for adapting the American materials for Canadian contexts and audiences, which include guidebooks that introduce the concept of changemaking, and tools and activities that educators can use in their classrooms or programs to bring changemaking to life and put students into action. 

 

Reviewed and offered feedback on proposed adaptations; guidance on our outreach to educators and students in target communities; and strategic advice on our goal to translate these resources into Indigenous languages.

Truth & Reconciliation Trail Committee

Committee Member

November 2021-Present

 Member of the Georgian College's Truth & Reconciliation Trail Committee. This committee discusses and implements ways to utilize the Truth & Reconciliation Trail into an outdoor learning classroom that advances reconciliation through education, shared responsibility and action. Markers on the tail may include Treaty awareness and Land Acknowledgements, Truth and Reconciliation calls to action, local knowledge and history, UN Declaration of Indigenous Peoples, National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls calls for justice and restorative practices with the land. In additional, other educational sessions, such as documentary and panel discussions are implemented to educate and promote change within our postsecondary setting.

UPlift Black Advocacy & Accountability Committee

A social impact agency working to UPlift the Black community who live in Simcoe County. UPlift Black strives for 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusivity and racial equity through a conscious and UPlifted community.
